Episode 38 — Sharing Jesus with a Smile

Emily Potusek (far left) with her family on a trip to the Vatican.

In this episode, Emily and I talked about:

  • How Emily got into nursing

  • Emily's faith journey

  • What it's like to work on the front lines during the time of COVID-19

  • The power of a smile and acts of service

  • Continuing to follow the advice and directives of our health directors and trusting that they know what they're doing!

I've known Emily Potusek for a few years now, and our families both go to the same parish. Through this, I've had the opportunity to encounter Emily and her smile on a regular basis. It was a real privilege to be able to talk to Emily a few months ago about her faith and work as a nurse, especially during this time of COVID-19. Together, we talk about Emily's personal faith journey, working as a nurse, and how she's been able to share her faith with others through her work.

As the situation with COVID-19 changes, I ask that you continue to pray for nurses like Emily who are hard at work to take care of us and help us stay healthy!

Listen to our conversation here:

"I smile because I know God loves me and I know He put me here for a reason, and I like my job because I know I'm serving a purpose." — Emily Potusek

Meet Emily Potusek

Emily Potusek has always had a strong interest in the healthcare field and has followed this passion into her career as a Registered Nurse. Currently, she is a front-line worker at Surrey Memorial Hospital working in a few different areas including Cardiac Care, High Acuity, Internal Medicine and General Surgery. During her 4 years as a nurse, Emily has had many personal encounters with Christ through her patients. It is by seeing her career as a vocation to serve others that makes her job worthwhile.

In her spare time, Emily loves to bake and try new recipes. She also enjoys reading, running, playing guitar, singing and telling jokes.
